Dr. Castillo

Dr. Philip Castillo is a development economist and social researcher. He holds both an M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Development Studies from the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social & Economic Studies of the University of the West Indies, in Mona, Jamaica. He is an Assistant Professor and Immediate Past Chair of the Faculty of Management & Social Sciences of the University of Belize at its Central Campus in Belmopan.

His most recent publication was his doctoral thesis entitled, “In the Footsteps of the Orange: A Value Chain for Belize’s Orange Concentrate Exports,” which focuses on sustainable increasing earnings from the country’s citrus exports and social and economic issues that arise from the local distribution of citrus earnings. At the University of Belize, Dr. Castillo lectures courses in Research Methodology, Socio-Economic Development, Managerial Economics, and Public Policy.
